GREAT NEWS UPDATE
KDHE’s Community Testing Partner program, of which Morris County successfully became participants in on January 13, 2021, has now been announced to be funded for the rest of this calendar year! With that said, following the last two weeks of evaluating local demand for this free COVID testing option, the Public Health Department is making the following changes to improve patient throughput of this service:
- Testing will be given via appointments only – call 620-767-5175 for slots on Mondays thru Thursdays.
- Saliva collection is an option but only available if there is total fasting for 30 minutes preceding the test (no food, liquid, or tobacco product), to assure optimal accuracy of test result.
As a point of interest, over the first eight days in offering these tests, 115 tests were administered with 23 resulting in positive COVID identification, or exactly 20%. This rate is pretty consistent with State and County averages over this similar time line. Turnaround for results has been better than expected, averaging less than 1.5 days.
